FDA Warns Against Certain Hand Sanitizers
The FDA previously warned consumers and health care professionals not to use certain alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
The reason is because these specific hand sanitizers contain methanol (or wood alcohol), which is often used to create fuel and antifreeze that can be toxic absorbed through the skin. It is also life-threatening when ingested.
The FDA also placed a few hand sanitizers on an import alert, meaning that they cannot enter the United States.
